Alyssa's Sadness

A few days ago, Alyssa and I had the TV going and Reba reruns were playing. It was the one where Cheyenne has her baby and Reba breaks into song, singing the baby a lullaby. It was a sweet little moment that brought a tear to my eye, but brought my 3 year old to a big sob. She ran over to me and was just crying her eyes out. She told me that it made her sad. It was the cutest thing ever. I don't think she even really knew why she was crying .

So yesterday I was struggling as usual to get the girls to take a nap at the same time so that I could have a moment to breathe, and I laid Aubrey down. She was crying and didn't want to go to sleep, although she was tired. She is the one that doesn't want to miss anything, already and only six months old. So I leaned over and started singing to her in her crib, and Alyssa walks in and I stop singing and tell her to go back to her bed. She climbs up in the crib with Aubrey and says mommy sing to her again. So I start singing a little lullaby to Aubrey. "Lullaby say goodnight, close your eyes and sleep tight, momma loves you , when you wake, I will make you a pancake." Just kind of make it up as I go along. Well, Alyssa starts balling again. Big tears!!!!! She goes and cuddles next to Aubrey and and covers her up with her blankie and tells me to stop singing that song. So I started to sing the " so this is love" song in the Cinderella movie, which has kind of the same melody, and she stops crying and is fine. So just for fun, I start singing the lullaby again and she starts balling again. It was so funny. When I finally got Aubrey to bed I asked Alyssa why that song made her cry, if it scared her, and she so no it just makes her sad. Too cute!!!! I know this sounds mean, but I had to show Aaron when he got home. He and Alyssa were playing and laughing and I started singing softly the little lullaby and her laughter breaks into big alligator tears again. I couldn't help but laugh. It is so funny and sweet and odd at the same time. I love it. She's my sweet little tender-hearted one!!!!!
